We have been learning all about food that comes from animals this week. We have played lots of fun matching games, and explored this further in our small world area during Aistear. We really enjoyed learning where our food comes from ! Every Monday the boys and girls in Junior and Senior Infants take part in a fun and interactive maths lesson with Ms O'Connor and Ms McMahon called 'Ready Set Go Maths' It's a really fun way to start our learning for the week!! We really enjoyed reading this book this week, here is a little taster from the first few pages. In the small town of Hamilton Shady there is a rather large problem. Mrs MacCready won't stop eating and is soon towering above the town. There can only be one outcome.... Mrs MacCready was ever so greedy. She did nothing else but eat. Fish fingers and chips, apples with pips, plates full of succulent meat. Bacon and ham, gobbled with jam, brown eggs, scrambled or fried. All sorts of berries, especially cherries, even with worms inside! We have been learning about healthy and unhealthy foods this week. We decided to make some healthy soup to sell in our cafè. We learned a little song to help us remember how to make it. It was lots of fun to make and our classroom smelled lovely all day long! We all loved the taste of our soup, it was yummy :) Well done to Lilly and her family for raising so much money for Cystic Fibrosis! A great cause, and Lilly got to have her picture taken for the newspaper. Today was a very exciting day in our classroom. We learned how to make a smoothie, so that we will be able to work in our new 'Smoothie Bar' . First we chose our favourite fruit and vegetables. Then we chopped them carefully with a knife. We then put them into a blender. When we turned it on it made lots of noise! We blended the fruit for twenty seconds. Lastly we poured the smoothie into a glass. Then the whole class had the chance to taste it. Some people really liked it, others not so much, but it was lots of fun to make. We can't wait to serve lots of customers healthy smoothies in our role play corner ! |
