This month we have been learning all about the airport. We made our own passports and boarding passes, and were able to use them when visiting the airport in our role play corner. We had great fun in the the role play area this month. We were planning and packing our suitcases for our holidays. We checked in and joined the long queue at security. The stewards who work at security are very thorough, you are not allowed to bring sharp objects or liquids over 100mls on the plane. We relaxed in the departures lounge before boarding . We had to keep checking the departure boards so that we knew which boarding gate to wait at. We flew to many exotic destinations, but Tokyo seemed to be our favourite! The pilots and air hostesses were very helpful and we enjoyed some lovely in flight meals. We explored the topic of the airport further in the small world, junk art and construction areas too. We had a great time!

We had lots of fun supporting Castlegar N.S hurling team in the county final last week. We made flags and posters and cheered as they ran onto the team bus. Unfortunately it was not Castlegar's day, but we were very proud of them as they tried so hard and brought lovely runners up medals back to school. Well Done Boys !!
Wally has taught us many ways to solve problems and deal with our feelings in school this year. Today we had our Dina School graduation. Junior Infants had the opportunity to share everything they learned with parents and friends. The boys and girls received a special certificate and treat from Ms Winston, they did a super job!
We really enjoyed reading the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' this month. We had the opportunity to explore the story and characters further through our structured play sessions. I can imagine this poem resonates with many parents,I thought it was a lovely one to share :) As part of our RSE/SPHE programme we learned about the importance of taking care of our bodies. We enjoyed giving our baby dolls a bath in the water area this month. We have some very kind and caring brothers and sisters in our class who demonstrated perfectly the correct way to give a baby a bath ! We really enjoy learning through playful activities in our class. Here are some pictures of our class engaging in hands on maths activities this month. We are really excited to start our new reward system for this term. Each table represents an animal; The Amazing Ants,The Fantastic Foxes,The Happy Hedgehogs,The Wonderful Woodpeckers, and The Remarkable Rabbits. The first group to reach the yummy picnic basket are the winning table of the day ! |
